Quick Look: What Is ThinkRank?

One of the more interesting aspects of ThinkRank is that it packages your WordPress content to enhance AEO/GEO (Answer Engine Optimization/Generative Engine Optimization), helping it to get parsed by those engines and, ideally, get recommended.

About our 'Quick Look' Series

Our Quick Look series offers brief first impressions of products that are new or new to us and may interest our community. Product teams often contact us to promote their products, but we only feature those that pass our initial vetting process. These articles are never paid for or sponsored, and the product's team has no say in what we publish. You get an honest first impression to help you decide if the product is worth a closer look.

Got a product? Let us know about it!

ThinkRank is a new SEO plugin for WordPress that leans heavily into an AI-first approach.

It’s still got the expected baseline of essential SEO features, though:

  • Built-in SEO analysis.
  • Integration with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and PageSpeed Insights.
  • Analytics & performance dashboards.
  • Content SEO.
  • Image SEO.
  • Link management.
  • Social media sharing settings like Open Graph and Twitter Card options.

And a lot more.

But the extensive feature list isn’t the most interesting part about this plugin. We’ll get into that in a moment.

Who Made It?

It’s from the WPDeveloper team, the same people behind popular plugins such as Essential Addons for Elementor and BetterDocs.

Their previously published plugins boast millions of active installs on WordPress.org and generally have good ratings, which is a positive trust signal even if you haven’t heard of their immensely popular Elementor addon.

What Makes It Stand Out?

One of the more interesting aspects of ThinkRank is that it packages your WordPress content to enhance AEO/GEO (Answer Engine Optimization/Generative Engine Optimization), helping it to get parsed by those engines and, ideally, get recommended.

The way it achieves this is by helping you to create an llms.txt file which covers a wide array of information, including posts, pages, and WooCommerce products, exposing it all for LLMs to access.

This does require some manual setup in the free version. Once your AI agent is wired up with ThinkRank, though, it can automatically optimize your llms.txt settings.

The llms.txt file is automatically kept up to date when you publish new content on your site as well.

That being said, it’s important to note that there’s some debate as to whether llms.txt actually improves AEO/GEO at this time. According to Search Engine Land in an early 2026 article, “No major LLM provider has officially committed to parsing llms.txt. Not OpenAI. Not Anthropic. Not Google. Not Meta.”

A lot has changed since early 2026, though. I couldn’t find any recent research from a reputable source indicating whether llms.txt has been found to be effective. In my opinion, it’s worth experimenting with as an additional strategy, but clean markup and an accessible site seem to be the surest bet at the moment.

It also has its own MCP server, which will let you link up an agent like Claude Code or Codex and give it the ability to manipulate SEO settings and data on your site.

Here are the abilities exposed via the ThinkRank MCP server (from ThinkRank’s documentation):

  • Read operations:
    • Your posts, pages and custom post types, and their current SEO fields.
    • SEO scores, checks, insights and opportunities for a post or term.
    • Search Console and analytics data, and your generated llms.txt.
    • Your ThinkRank settings (site identity, schema, social, robots, sitemap, and more).
  • Write operations:
    • Update a post’s or term’s SEO title, meta description, focus keyword and canonical.
    • Generate and update schema.
    • Update settings such as site identity, social meta, robots rules, sitemap and llms.txt.
    • Submit URLs for instant indexing.

Who Should Use It

If you’re into the idea of having an AI-powered SEO solution, ThinkRank is worth a look.

With its ability to integrate with your AI provider of choice, as well as a full-fledged MCP server for letting agents like Claude and Codex drive, it’s an interesting option for those who are already incorporating AI heavily into their workflows.

Once you’ve added an API key from your AI provider of choice, you’ll also unlock other AI-powered features like a content planner and metadata generator, as well as other helpful AI features across various aspects of your site’s SEO data.

It’s also an interesting option if AEO/GEO is a focus for you, since that appears to be a primary focus for ThinkRank as well.

Who Should Give It A Pass

ThinkRank is clearly AI-first.

If you’re not eager to give AI control over important aspects of your site’s data, or don’t want to lean on it to make SEO decisions, ThinkRank’s probably not for you.

How To Get It

You can get ThinkRank free on WordPress.org, or get the Pro version at thinkrank.ai.
