The Admin Bar

After spending 15 years as a graphic designer and earning a business degree, I launched my agency, OGAL Web Design, in 2017. A year later, after finding the amazing community around WordPress, I co-found The Admin Bar, which has grown to become the #1 community for WordPress professionals. I'm a husband and proud father of three, and a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

It occurred to me this morning that some of you might only know The Admin Bar through this YouTube channel. While there are hundreds of videos here, we also have a ton of free resources available on our website. If you’ve never clicked through to it, you might not even know these resources exist.

In this post, I’ll give you a quick tour of all the free tools, downloads, and content you can access from our website.

The Admin Bar Community

Our free community is thriving, even as Facebook slowly fades into irrelevance. With over 11,000 members, the group is packed with thoughtful conversations, support, and advice for people working with WordPress or running agencies.

Each month, the community sees:

  • Hundreds of posts
  • Thousands of comments
  • Nearly 7,500 active members

Whether you’re looking for help, sharing ideas, or just connecting with others in the industry, the Admin Bar Community is a great place to be.

The Friday Chaser

For over four years, I’ve been publishing a weekly newsletter called The Friday Chaser.

Each issue includes:

  • A personal message from me
  • Links to the most popular posts in the community
  • A curated list of content we’ve created or found interesting
  • Our weekly SEO series

It’s a great way to stay updated on what’s happening in the community and get valuable insights delivered straight to your inbox.

Care Plan Toolkit

The Care Plan Toolkit is a comprehensive resource for running care plans for clients. It’s built inside a Notion document and includes:

  • Hosting recommendations (what I like and don’t like)
  • Security tips
  • Bulk site management tools
  • Transactional email solutions
  • Ideas for care plan add-on services to increase revenue

If you’re looking to improve your care plan offerings or streamline your processes, this toolkit is packed with actionable advice.

Sales Process Walkthrough

Inside this FigJam file, I walk you through my entire sales process, from the initial opportunity to the final paid invoice.

This resource includes:

  • Every step of the process
  • How I tag clients
  • How I move from interest to paid discovery and eventually to a project

It’s a detailed look at how I manage sales and client relationships, and it’s designed to help you refine your own process.

Website Audit Checklist

This Airtable base contains over 60 individual checks for auditing a website.

Each test includes:

  • The name of the test
  • Its category (e.g., SEO, privacy, performance, accessibility)
  • Importance level
  • How to perform the test
  • Tools to use
  • Whether it applies to individual pages or the entire site
  • Additional information to help you understand the test

This checklist is a valuable resource for ensuring your websites meet best practices across multiple categories.

Noted Plugin

I’ve already done a video about my plugin, Noted, but you can download it for free from the WordPress repository.

Noted is a simple tool for adding notes to your WordPress dashboard, making it easy to keep track of important information. I’ll include a link to the video where I explain how it works.

Accessing These Resources

You can find links to all of these resources on our Welcome Wall at theadminbar.com/free.

Most of the resources require signing up for our email list, but they’re all completely free—no strings attached. I regularly update this list, so check back often to see what’s new.

Don’t Forget the Blog

In addition to the resources mentioned above, we also have a blog packed with valuable content. For example, we published 12 posts in February alone, covering a wide range of topics.

Final Thoughts

I hope this post helps you discover some of the free resources available through The Admin Bar. Whether it’s the community, the newsletter, or one of the tools mentioned here, there’s something for everyone.
