Quick update for you on the Job Board to get things started this week....
As of the time of writing this email, we now have 13 active and open jobs posted—including both freelance and part-time work.
I've added a "Get Notifications" link to the navigation so anyone looking for work can get an email when new job(s) are posted (maximum 1 email per day).
Yes, employers—we're actively delivering your job postings directly to interested candidates for you!
I've reached out to a few of the folks who have posted jobs, and they have all told me that they are getting quite a few good candidates—which (hopefully) means it's working!
A couple tips if you're posting a job:
Remember, the Job Board is completely free to use, but it's meant to be a private resource for the community only—so please keep it between us. I don't want to lock it down behind logins and passwords if I don't have to ?
Should you text with your clients?
Scott wonders if he's being a grumpy old man for not wanting to text back and forth with his clients.
Google Analytics gone confusing
I wasn't sure if it was just me or not, but I'm totally lost in the new Google Analytics interface... Looks like I'm not alone, and there are some ways around it.
This is your final notice
Joey is wondering how the folks in the group handle past due invoices and when it's time to shut down delinquent client's services.
This is why we get a bad reputation
Jennifer is frustrated with her client's last developer who has locked down her client's website and become unresponsive. If only every web agency was using The WOM — this could be avoided!
Back that thing up!
Thomas is looking for options on keeping all his local files backed up besides his external hard drive. Lots of great suggestions, and something you should probably tackle if you haven't already.
Matt questions if Poppins is the new Comic Sans. Blasphemy to some, and apt comparison to others... I'm just glad I'm not the only one who gets totally burned out on fonts!
This Week in WordPress #151
I joined Nathan Wrigley, Paul Lacey, and Sabrina Zeidan to discuss the week's news in the world of WordPress. I love this show, and it's part of my weekly listening ritual! I was thrilled to be able to contribute!
German, Dutch, & Danish!
Thanks to our wonderful community (Jan-Riekus, Sandra, Ute, and Morten, in particular) the User Profiles Worksheet we released a couple weeks ago is now available in German, Dutch, & Danish!
New Script Added to The WOM
Have you ever had a client ask "tell me again, what's included in my care plan? I can't remember!" If not, consider yourself lucky—it's not a great feeling! The new WOM Invoice/Receipt Script is built to reinforce your value each month.
I'll be sending out information on the March edition of Happy Hour, which will be at an all new time to accommodate our friends in Australia and New Zealand. I'm really looking forward to seeing folks that I normally don't get to interact with in real time.
If you want to join us, make sure you're signed up on the Happy Hour VIP list (it's free!) so you get the links and replay.
